Easter was a lot of fun this year. Unsurprisingly, the girls were up early wanting to go downstairs to see if the Easter Bunny had come to visit. We told them they had to stay upstairs while Mommy went down to check-- as we knew the Easter Bunny was coming last minute to avoid a certain Black Lab eating all the chocolate and sending us to the Vet Emerg on a statutory holiday. (Millie only gets really sick on weekends or holidays. I'm not exaggerating. Every. Single. Time.)
The Easter Bunny had placed a big chocolate egg with smarties inside on each of their spots at the island, then skattered a few packs of colourful mini eggs around the countertops. Finally, there were two plastic eggs each, filled with play-doh. Audrey gathered it all up, then declared, "Wow, Mama, look at all this JUNK! I guess the Easter Bunny doesn't know we're not allowed to eat JUNK, right?"
Next, Mama went to yoga. When Nana found out I was going to yoga instead of church her eyebrows raised so high I could hear it through the phone. Next year, perhaps...
After I got back from yoga, I made bunny pancakes for lunch:
Usually we head up to my sister's for Easter festivities in the early afternoon, but this year we weren't starting until 4pm. This allowed us to take part in a great Beach tradition-- the Easter Parade. We got set up outside a friend's shop-- who gave the girls paper bags to catch all the treats handed out by the paraders. (We had NO idea there was so much loot involved.)
Audrey, adding more candy to her bag: "It's like Halloween in the summer!!"
We had to bail on the parade early to get back to house, get changed, and head up to Newmarket. The kids had a fun easter egg hunt with their cousins, and cuddles with the Grandparents and Great-Grandmas. (Here is Lily with my Nan, who turned 88 last week.)
I took the kids outside for a few quick snaps. Lily wore Audrey's Easter dress from last year:
Audrey wore a summer dress covered with a cardigan. (Nothing handmade this time around!)
Wait, I lie, I made my niece's dress. :) My little nephew is so cute in his sweater vest. Poor little guy, the only boy in the bunch. (Luckily, my little sister is expecting a boy in July! That will be some good company for Carson.)
That night, the kids were so wired on sugar that they were still up and chatting an hour and a half after they went to bed. That's what happens when you eat too much JUNK!
Bunny pancakes??? Seriously genius!
