Remember last week when I forgot about the Flik and Co. sale until it was half over, and totally missed out? (Okay, I did find my teal faux-crocodile footstool, but there is no doubt that the really good stuff was long gone before I got there.) So, when the owner told me they were restocking for the next Friday, I invited my friend, Dale, to come along. Dale has a history with Flik and Co., as they designed his super-chic French Country kitchen in his stunning Victorian home in Cabbagetown.
Determined to walk into the store the moment it opened, Dale and I met an hour early for caffeine fortification at Te Aro on Queen St., steps away from our final destination. A very urban-cool place for coffee, indeed:
(Loooooove those barstool chairs.)
At 10am on the dot we head into Flik and Co. While a very nice sale, it was clear we had missed the boat by exactly one week. Darn it. Some of the things I coveted but passed on were:
1. A gorgeous farm table with two leaves that could have been a very cute new scrap table.
2. A subway roll in the perfect colour to hang in my kitchen, but at $300 (half off!) way too pricey.
3. A vintage french sign...or a cheap knock off. Don't really know where I would've put this, but I am a sucker for all things french.
4. A very cool piece of art. No it's not blurry, that's really how it looks. Again, nice, but not at $500.
5. Lockers with letters on them. If only we had added a mud room to the renovation...not.
In the end I escaped with only $25 out of pocket for a blue earthenware bowl, 4 tea towels, and this little stretched canvas photo of a couple making out under the Eiffel Tower:
(I told you I'm a sucker for anything french.)
Dale got this very fun metal plane-- which is a propos because his husband is a pilot and he himself is an airline steward:
For $10, you can't go wrong...even though it's missing a propeller. I told Dale to stick that end behind a picture frame and no one will be any the wiser. Unless they read my blog.
If you happen to read Chatelaine magazine, there is a feature on the Flik and Co. guys...hereafter known as the Flik by Design guys because the old store is gone, and the new one is soon to open.Their house, as you can imagine, is gorgeous. I want to live in their 3 year old's parisian inspired bedroom, painted a deep watermelon pink. Seriously, could I just come over for a nap occasionally, guys? I'll babysit...
I think you need to post some pictures of Dale's home on your blog, cause now I am seriously curious to see their kitchen & kid's bedroom. What a great paint color but I need to see it :-)

Looks like you had a really fun time. Haven't been to Te Aro yet (although I walk by it every day). I will definitely have to stop in now! Thanks for the tip.
