Not too long ago I was flipping through my magazine hoard and came upon some beautiful glass bottles. (I think this was in Martha Stewart, although I can't seem to find it on their website.) Anyway, this project was beautiful and easy and, well, free!
I had just finished my jam jar-- do you know Bonne Maman? Wonderful french jam, available in pretty much every grocery store. I couldn't bare to recycle this one:
So, I grabbed it, an old bud vase, and a tea light holder and placed them on some parchment paper on the counter. Then I found the Benjamin Moore tester pots that I bought for the paint in the basement. These were $7.50 a piece, so I am determined to use every single drop! I love this colour, Ocean Air:
All you do is pour a fair amount of paint in the jar, turn it on an angle, and then just let it roll around slowly to cover the entire inner surface. This was quite fun, actually. Rather zen to watch the colour slowly roll over the glass.
Let dry, and you have this:
I think they are so pretty. One thing I remember from the magazine article is that if you want to put flowers in these you have to put the stems in a florists water vile first.
A few more shots:
I can't wait to group these on the window sill with a few simple blooms in them.
I have another DIY art project coming up tomorrow. With a long and expensive renovation, free art is my friend! Here's a preview:
Also coming up this week are shots of the (mostly) completed kitchen. It was all worth it, and then some!
Stopped over after seeing you post on 2peas - very nice blog!! Thanks for sharing.
