“You know, mummy, there are different kinds of floors. There’s wood and there’s carpet. You know what’s even better, though? Tile. Tile is really easy to clean. that’s what daddy told me.”
This is my THREE year old! Honestly, I think the renovation needs to end so Audrey can start talking about three year old little girl things again. It makes me want to buy her Barbies and put “Beauty and the Beast” on a loop on the tv. I’ve known for a while that she hears everything we say, but this is ridiculous! Not long ago she asked if, in a few years, we could make her bedroom “longer and bigger...and maybe I could have a bathroom in there”. At least she doesn’t know the term “ensuite”.
She is also pretty impressed with her swimming teacher. Last night in the bath she was saying, “Lily, I need you to listen to me for a minute. Look at me, okay. I’m going to put my arm under your back and I want you to put your head back and float. Float Lily!” (Lily loves this and quite willingly tries to float.) “Lily! Lily, look into my eyes, okay, now I need you to listen to me for a minute.I know you like being in the pool, i mean the bath, but you have to go home to your family, so it’s time to get out and towel off.” At this point Lily dives into the water again, so Audrey repeats, “Lily, Lily. I need you to listen to me. Lily, look at me, okay. I know you’re having fun in the pool, but it’s time to get out now and get dry!” And on and on. This repeated about a dozen times, no joke. I need to study that swimming teacher. She is on to something.
Audrey is also writing a lot of letters lately. Well, she dictates aloud while scribbling wavy lines on a page. “Dear Teachers, I’m so sorry that I left my one leg baby at school today. I’m very sorry but it’s okay because I will pick her up on Friday. Thank you, Teachers. I love you and I miss you. Love, Audrey.” (I am then entrusted with said note, to send to her school ASAP.)
Audrey has decided that her middle name is transferable. She is Audrey Quinn, Lily is Lily Quinn, I am Mommy Quinn and Q is Daddy Quinn.
