It's the last day of August, and I am proud of myself for getting through my Acquire-free month. I have learned a lot about my shopping habits, and I think I will definitely be more mindful of purchases in the future. I am even extending the challenge for another 10 days, so that I can get a whole credit card period in the "acquire-free" zone. It will be interesting to see how much of an impact it made on my statement.
I really like the format of giving myself a big challenge, but just for a month. It seems more manageable than a New Year's resolution, but long enough that I can really put some new habits in place. So, this month's challenge is Junk Food Free September. For the month I am cutting out:
- Chips/French Fries, and most other fried stuff
- Candy Bars/Candy
- Packaged Cakes and Cookies
Essentially, I'm cutting out anything with no nutritional value. This isn't about deprivation-- I can still have a square of good dark chocolate, or a croissant from the local patisserie, or pizza from our favourite pizzeria. It's not about losing weight, either, although if I drop a few that would be a bonus. I just remember that in my 20's I would never order a pop with my meal, or have french fries on the side. I would never just buy a candy bar and eat it. I think having kids has made me lazier about what I eat-- while putting much more thought into what they eat. I think by cutting out all the crap for a month, I will make new habits to avoid it in the future. I think it will require planning and more cooking, which are good skills for me to bone up on. The best part is, all the ladies in my dressing room at work have decided to join me! Anyone else out there in blogland interested in joining up?
Finally here are a few layouts from the week:

My friend, Nadine, and I went for brunch last week. The lighting was so great, we took some photos. Oh, that brunch was so delicious! Most of the supplies here are Creative Memories...
